The Alaska Community Foundation awarded a Social Justice Fund grant to WARM. This will allow WARM to present a series of specialized workshops for mental health providers on issues related to meeting the mental health needs of forced migrants led by experts in the field. Tentative topics include:
- Working with Interpreters,
- Narrative Exposure Therapy,
- Vicarious Trauma, Resilience, and Self-Care, and
- Psychological Evaluations with Forced Migrant Clients
We also plan to organize “lunch and learn” events where mental health professionals offering services to refugee clients can continue to develop foundational knowledge and receive professional guidance through structured peer consultations.
We plan to begin workshops in Fall 2019.
